2026 National Duty to God Breakfast

The National Religious Relationships Committee is proud to be hosting the National Duty to God Breakfast in-person once again on Thursday, May 14th, 2026 in Dallas, Texas.

Emcee:

Don Dare has been an adult scouter for thirty-plus years. He’s held positions at the Territory, Regional, Area, Council, and Unit levels. Professionally, Don is an Emmy Award-winning reporter and anchor at WATE-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee.

As a volunteer Scouter, Don currently serves as Duty to God Breakfast Chair on the National Religious Relationships Committee, he’s a National Alumni Committee member,  and CST 14, Vice-President of Marketing,  He has served as NCAP High Adventure Chair, SR, V-P of Marketing; Area 6, President, a Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, District Chair, District Commissioner.

Don has attended seven National Jamborees with Hometown Media, as well as the 2019 World Jamboree, where he worked alongside the Global Ambassador to help Scouts create stories for TV and Social Media. Since 2015, he has served as the emcee of the Duty to God Breakfast at the National Annual Meeting. 

Scouting recognitions include the Silver Buffalo, Silver Antelope, and Silver Beaver.  Religious awards from the United Methodist Church include the Silver Torch Award, Torch Award, and Cross and Flame religious. For 25 years, Don has served as a Lay Speaker for the Holston Conference. Throughout his 55-year career in broadcasting, Don has received numerous national journalism awards, including the AP Reporter of the Year and Journalist of the Year in Tennessee.

Key Note Speaker:

Rabbi Joseph H. Prouser, Eagle Scout and life-long Scouter; has led congregations for forty years, and has been a leading voice for Conservative Judaism.  His work with the Rabbinical Assembly’s Committee on Jewish Law and Standards led to several rabbinic rulings on post-mortem organ donation and compulsory immunization in Jewish Day Schools. He has also served as the Rabbinical Assembly liaison to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and as a member of the Joint Beit Din (Rabbinic Court) of the Conservative Movement.

Rabbi Prouser was a Daniel Jeremy Silver fellow at Harvard University’s Center for Jewish Studies and has also taught courses in Jewish Medical Ethics and Rabbinic Literature.

Rabbi Prouser has taken an active role in Scouting America. He has served as a chaplain at Philmont Scout Ranch, at six National Jamborees and at the 2015 World Scout Jamboree in Japan. He served as the Chaplain of the National Jewish Committee on Scouting from 2017–2020 and was a member of the National Duty to God Breakfast Committee from 2011–2015. Rabbi Prouser also served as chairman of the Connecticut Rivers Council’s chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) from 1996–2000. He is a member of the Advisory Council for the Northern New Jersey Council and has emceed its Prepared for Life Gala.

A frequent editorial contributor to the New Jersey Standard and New Orleans’ Crescent City Jewish News website, he currently serves as the editor of Masorti: The New Journal of Conservative Judaism leading its international editorial board.

Rabbi Prouser is married to Ora Horn Prouser, Ph.D., CEO and Dean of the Academy for Jewish Religion. They are the parents of three and have welcomed two grandchildren.
