Engaging High School Scouts in Duty to God

For older Scouts BSA members, Venturing Crew members, Order of the Arrow youth, and Senior Patrol Leaders, camporee worship services need to do more than just check a box. High school youth face complex ethical questions, intense peer pressure, rapid technological shifts, and a culture where moral standards seem to change by the week.

They don’t need a watered-down sermon or a service meant for elementary Cub Scouts—they need a space to reflect on how timeless faith applies directly to the decisions they make every day.

To help districts and councils deliver high-impact, youth-led worship for older Scouts, the National Religious Relationships Committee is excited to release our newest downloadable camporee resource pack: “Adventures Across the Ages: Navigating Time & Eternity.”

What Makes This Service Different?

Designed specifically with high school youth and adult leaders in mind, Adventures Across the Ages tackles the philosophical and spiritual concept of shifting human eras versus God’s unchanging truth.

We’ve got 20 different themes in the works. Like our other packages, this resource is 100% turn-key and editable. Any adult Scouter or Youth Chaplain Aide can pick up this document and lead a smooth, inspiring Protestant service—no formal seminary background or chaplain training required!

Inside the downloadable package, you’ll find:

  • 📄 Master Leader Copy: Complete step-by-step master script including all liturgical transitions (Epochs 1 through 5), opening/closing prayers, full song lyrics, and leader cues.
  • ✂️ Printable Youth Reader Cards: Ready-to-cut script cards for 6 youth readers, featuring scriptures from Ecclesiastes, Psalms, Hebrews, and 1 John that explore time and eternity.
  • 🎭 Interactive Skit (“The Ethical Time Machine”): A fast-paced, 4-person skit featuring a modern teenager, a 19th-century pioneer, a Roman centurion, and a futuristic 22nd-century explorer comparing the ethical dilemmas of their eras.
  • ⏱️ 5-Minute Deep-Dive Sermon: A high-impact message titled “Timeless Truth in an Ephemeral World,” challenging youth to anchor their personal moral compass in eternal principles rather than temporary social media trends.
  • 🎵 Modern Worship Music: Includes full lyrics to the widely popular, post-2000 congregational anthem Cornerstone (Hillsong Worship), easily sung acapella or with an acoustic guitar.
  • 📖 Audience Printable Program: A ready-to-print, 2-page program layout for all congregation members.
  • 📢 Marketing & Communication Pack: Includes a ready-to-use Camporee Manual description, a 60-second Leader Roundtable announcement, and a 30-second Youth Flagpole announcement with fill-in-the-blank slots for local event times and locations.
